Walking Through Grief: My Journey to Finding Peace

I want to share something deeply personal about my journey through grief—a path marked by loss, learning, and eventual healing. When my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer, my life was already in a whirlwind with the birth of my second child. The mix of new life and the prospect of losing my dad hit me harder than I could have ever imagined.

Those years after his diagnosis were tough. I walked around in a fog, consumed by anxiety and fear. I wasn't really living; I was just existing, going through the motions without truly engaging with the world or even my family. It took a heart-to-heart with my husband to make me realize I needed to change. His support during that conversation was the lifeline I desperately needed.

Going to therapy felt like diving into deep water, but it was there that my healing began. I learned so much about myself and how to cope with my grief. Here are some nuggets of wisdom that really helped me, and I hope they can help you too...

It's Okay to Feel
